Liverpool are set to take on MK Dons tonight in the League Cup.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a huge number of changes to his starting XI and it will undoubtedly be a chance for fans to catch a glimpse at some very highly-rated young players.
The likes of Rhian Brewster, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones could all be set to lead the line while Naby Keita is also in contention to start after returning from injury.
It is the first time the Reds have faced MK Dons in any competition and both Paul Gorst and Ian Doyle will be at Stadium MK to provide you all the latest updates from the match tonight which is due to kick off at 7.45pm.
Liverpool, everywhere they go, are big news – and that extends to Milton Keynes, given the amount of respect and pride that comes off the pages of MK Dons’ programme today.
Owner Pete Winkelman says: “I must offer a warm welcome to Liverpool Football Club, including the 6,000 supporters who have travelled down from Merseyside for the game. Our congratulations, of course, go to the Reds for flying the English flag in Europe last season with their superb Champions League triumph. It is truly an honour to have the best team in Europe play in this stadium here this evening.” Fair play.
A very drizzly welcome to Milton Keynes for the first step on Liverpool’s road to League Cup glory.
It’s quite warm but a little bit wet here. Perfect conditions for football, in fact.
Expect to see a much-changed Liverpool side – I’m expecting a completely different XI – and a chance to witness the start of some Anfield careers.
Should be a good one.
